Dejan Radonjić: "Today it was our goal"
Zenit head coach Dejan Radonjić commented on the road win over UNICS (77:85) in the postgame press conference, a result that secured the Blue-White-Sky Blues a spot in the WINLINE Basket Cup Final Four. The coach highlighted the team’s overall performance, the key role of the second quarter, and emphasized that the main priority in this game was simply to get the win.
You know, for us it was important percent for 3 points and we had 11 rebounds more than UNICS. So, one more time congrats to my players and then we have to talk immediately tomorrow about next game.
— Did you aim to win by more than 20 points today to secure first place in the group and get a more favorable matchup in the semifinals?
— I have a really huge respect to UNICS. We came over here to play a good game. And to win was the main goal for this match.
— The team recently signed a new player, Ismaël Bako, who is well known to Kazan fans. What's his role in you team?
— In this team I would like to see him what we need from his size.
— He didn't play that much tonight. Is it cause of his recuperation after injury?
— No, no. We did a good job this game. He's okay right now, so… Because you know, game feeling.
— What can you say about Xavier Moon performance? 27 points for him.
— He's a very important player for us, you know. He did a great job, I think so. It's his best game so far this season, so I hope so that he will continue like this. I don't think so that he can play that good, but could be good for us if he's like this.
— Did you feel some kind of stress, that Zenit might not not participate in the home Final Four?
— If you loose every game, it's really stressful for us. You analyze all season. In this period of the season, you mostly have more important games than in the beginning of the season. One of the very important games was the game today. We lost last game against Loko at home, so we did what we did. Today it was our goal to win and to be in the Final Four. That's it.
