Zenit-2 will host Kupol Rodniki at home

The farm team of the Blue-White-Sky Blues is set to host Izhevsk’s Kupol Rodniki on their home court. The Round 21 regular season game of the FONBET Super League will take place today, February 20, at the Zenit Basketball Academy (Severnaya Road, 12). Tip-off is scheduled for 19:00 St. Petersburg time. Admission is free!

The Izhevsk team has played one more game and sits 12th in the standings with 7 wins and 14 losses. Zenit-2, meanwhile, is in 9th place with a 9-11 record.

Both teams enter this matchup in a difficult situation. Kupol-Rodniki and Zenit-2 are currently on three-game losing streaks, which affects their playoff prospects.

The first-round game, held in November in Izhevsk, was a tightly contested battle. The St. Petersburg side had a strong start and won the first half, but Kupol-Rodniki proved stronger in the clutch, winning 82:81.

Zenit-2 assistant coach Andrey Semenov shared his thoughts ahead of today’s game:

Our preparation is going according to plan. We’ve held two practices ahead of the game in Izhevsk. We really want to bounce back after the tough loss to Temp-SUMZ. But it won’t be easy, because Kupol Rodniki is also a young and ambitious team. They run fast breaks well and play aggressive defense. They’ve beaten strong teams in this tournament, so it will be quite challenging for us. Nevertheless, we’ll try to bring energy and strong defense to secure a win today.
