Aleksander Sekulic: "The first quarter didn’t go the way we wanted"
Zenit head coach Aleksander Sekulic gave his comments after the away game against Samara (64:113). The match took place as part of the 4th round of the VTB United League regular season.
— I said before the match that Samara is a team that we need to give respect even though they're not in a great momentum also missing some players. I said that we need to take them very serious. Serious means that you know how they play and you need to be ready to defend this way. First quarter was not the way we wanted to play but the rest of the game was something that we wanted to do and we did very good.
— What did you say to the team during the break after the first quarter that made them respond like that? What were those magic words?
— I mean we were not playing defense. The opponent team scored 26 points. From this only one three-point shot. Everything else was from inside the paint or free throws. So we just needed to start playing defense.
