Pavel Zemskiy: “Already ready for the new season”

Zenit forward Pavel Zemskiy — on correcting past mistakes and his expectations for the upcoming season.

— Pavel, if you were writing an essay on the topic "How I spent my summer", what would you write about?

— I would definitely write that I spent the summer quite productively. I managed to recover after a long season and also get into good shape. I worked on my mistakes, gained new skills, polished them. I’m already ready for the new season.

— Zenit has significantly refreshed the squad during the offseason. Have you already had a chance to talk with the newcomers?

— I know almost all the guys already, since we’ve crossed paths both in the league and with the Russian national team during training camps. We’ll get to know each other better during preseason.

— Did you rewatch any games from last season over the summer?

— I watched some matches because I needed to analyze my mistakes. I had to take something useful from them, to understand what I was doing wrong and where. I did this so that I could correct things and avoid those mistakes in the future.

— What goal do you set for yourself in the upcoming season?

— The highest possible goals. I need to work on myself, improve my skills, and aim for the championship.
