Alexander Porotnikov named to VTB United Youth League regular season symbolic five

Zenit U21 guard Alexander Porotnikov has been named to the symbolic five of the VTB United Youth League regular season. The player appeared in 39 regular season games, averaging 9.6 points, 4.6 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game, with an efficiency rating of 11.7. Porotnikov had previously been selected to the symbolic fives for the months of February and April.

Alexander shared his thoughts on receiving his third individual award of the 2024/25 season and spoke about his mindset heading into the playoffs:

To be honest, I really didn’t expect to be named to the season’s symbolic five, especially since I had a facial injury that caused me to miss quite a few games. So it was a pleasant surprise. Making the regular season symbolic five shows me that I was doing things right throughout the season. This award gives me even more motivation heading into the playoffs — I want to perform at my best. I’m entering the quarterfinals fully focused: there’s no room for error anymore, we have to show quality basketball and give it our all.
