Anton Lissov: "I’m one of those fans who never gives up"
Anton Lissov — musician, producer, music video director and frontman of the rock band Jane Air — attended the home game of the blue-whites against Uralmash (96:66) and shared his emotions with us. As a native of St. Petersburg, Anton has long supported the sports teams of his hometown, which we discussed in an exclusive interview for Zenit TV.
— Anton, we’re happy to see you at the basketball game. This isn’t your first time at a blue-whites match. What connects you to basketball in your life?
— I actually played in school. And now I’ve got little ones. Of course, anything involving a ball — we’re all over it. So I brought the next generation along. My kid’s first words were "ball". And it doesn’t matter if it’s a football, basketball, or tennis ball — he’s all in. Honestly, I think he’s enjoying it even more than I am. Though I’m having a blast too, since it’s a break from studio work — I get to relax a bit.
— PE teachers in St. Petersburg schools seem to love teaching basketball, don’t they?
— Maybe. I can only speak for myself. I don’t really know what it was like in other schools, to be honest.
— Let’s talk a bit about Zenit’s football team, which just played a draw. Do you think it’s possible to make up the 5-point gap with Krasnodar?
— It’s tough, obviously, but we’ll keep the faith. I’m one of those fans who never gives up. You’ve got to support the team no matter what.
— In your opinion, who’s closer to the championship: Zenit’s basketball or football team?
— Looks like the basketball team at the moment.
— SKA is also playing hockey today. Do you follow that team?
— I don’t have the time, honestly. With so many projects of my own, it’s hard to keep up. Sometimes I catch bits during tours — the tech crew starts signaling the score with their fingers. Especially if you’ve got a concert happening at the same time as a match — it happens. But when I’m deep in studio work, there’s just no room for anything else.
— If you could feature a Zenit player in one of your music videos, who would it be?
— Oh, I don’t even know. But that’s a great idea — we’ve got a new track, and I’d love to come here and perform it right on the court.
— Awesome, we’ll be waiting for it. Would you change anything about the music played at the games?
— Oh, nothing at all! The songs here are awesome, total hits. You hear them and think: "Oh yeah, that’s a great rapper. I need to hit the studio and cook up something like that".
