Dwayne Bacon is the March MVP in the VTB United League
Zenit forward Dwayne Bacon has been named the MVP of March in the VTB United League. This marks the second individual award in Russia for the American basketball player, who was previously included in the symbolic five of the 2024 Super Cup.
The blue-whites team had a flawless month, securing eight wins in eight regular-season games. Zenit kicked off March with a victory over Astana, followed by wins against Samara, Lokomotiv Kuban, Avtodor, Pari Nizhny Novgorod, Uralmash and Enisey. The final and most crucial triumph came at home against CSKA, where Bacon’s decisive shot sealed the win, propelling Zenit to the top of the standings and extending their unbeaten streak to 16 games.
Bacon played in all of Zenit's March games, averaging 18.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.8 steals per game with an efficiency rating of 17.4. Twice during the month, he was named to the league’s Team of the Week. The forward shared his thoughts on the award and expressed gratitude to his teammates:
First and foremost thanks to the man above, then thanks to my teammates and coaches I wouldn’t have this award if these guys didn’t believe in me. We’ve put in a lot of work with still so much to achieve, let’s keep going. Thank you VTB United League.
Previously in the 2024/25 VTB United League season, Zenit guards Xavier Moon (November) and Trent Frazier (February) also were named MVPs of the month.
