Zenit vs Enisey. Preview

February 4, 2025
Xavi Pascual's team is preparing to host Krasnoyarsk's Enisey on the home court. Here’s a detailed look at the matchup for the 30th round of the VTB United League regular season.

Context

The Krasnoyarsk team has had a mixed month but is still fighting for a playoff spot. In January, Jovica Arsic’s squad secured important victories against Avtodor (81:75), Pari NN (88:77) and Astana" (78:63), but also stumbled several times against top-5 teams. The visitors are currently on a three-game losing streak and sit in 9th place in the standings.

As has been the case throughout the season, the team's key players are its guards — Enisey’s two leaders, Victor Sanders (13.7 points per game) and Timofey Gerasimov (13.6). They have repeatedly led the Siberian club to victory. Additionally, the Russian player ranks among the league’s top three assist leaders, averaging 5.6 assists per game. Quality ball movement combined with strong rebounding will allow Enisey to put up a fight in the upcoming match.

After a confident victory over CSKA on Sunday, Zenit, in turn, is on the rise. The team's newcomer, forward Okaro White, has already joined the blue-whites and is ready to make his debut for the St. Petersburg club in the upcoming match against Enisey.

Head-to-head

This will be the 28th meeting between these teams in the VTB United League. Zenit has only lost to Krasnoyarsk once — back in February last year on the road.

Quotes

Zenit’s head coach Xavi Pascual shared his thoughts on the upcoming game:

Enisey is one team, from my point of view, with one of the best coaches in the competition, but also their game is much better than the results that they have until now. They play very well, very well organized, very well tempo, knowing all the time what they want to do. So, it's one dangerous game for us. After to win CSKA we have to be in a high level of concentration and intensity if we want to win. We are we are going to play home with our fans and we have to do it in the right way.
