"Bad attitude is the main reason for the defeat": Popovic and Evstafiev summarize the match against Barnaul
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic commented on the result of the away game against Barnaul (78:64).
— What went wrong in today’s game? Why couldn’t you win?
— A lot of things went wrong. Our three-point percentage is very poor, the same goes for our two-point shooting, and the overall percentage is the same. But in the last 10 days, we’ve had major problems with the roster. There have been colds and injuries. Yesterday, Zemskiy left because he is needed by the first team. As a result, we had to rotate different players at the power forward position. Today, it didn’t work out well, Barnaul won, and I congratulate them on the victory.
— What was the most difficult part of today’s game?
— Our offense just didn’t work at all. In general, we made silly mistakes on defense.
Zenit-2 forward Egor Evstafiev also shared his thoughts after the game against Barnaul.
— How do you comment on the match? What was missing today?
— We had a double road trip. It’s always quite difficult. Injuries, plus Pasha ZemskIy went to play for the first team. I think that affected us. But overall, the most important thing was our attitude. We came out unmotivated, not focused on winning, and I think that’s the main reason.
— Could it be said that you underestimated Barnaul?
— It’s not that we underestimated them, it’s more that we didn’t believe we could win, given the circumstances we had.
