Zenit-2 will host Grozny’s Dynamo on home court
The reserve team of the blue-whites returns after a long break with a home game against Dynamo from Grozny. The match with the Chechen team will take place as part of the 16th round of the Fonbet Super League and will kick off the second half of the regular season.
The last game of the previous calendar year for Oliver Popovic's team was also against the Chechen squad. The game in Grozny took place on December 22 and ended with a victory for Zenit, 85:75. In that match, the hosts’ standout performer was guard Artem Kochergin, who recorded 17 points, 2 steals and 1 rebound.
After the first half of the season, Dynamo is in last place in the standings with three wins, while Zenit-2, with 12 victories, occupies second place.
We remind you that this is the debut season in the Super League for Oleg Kiselev’s team, and the upcoming game will be only the second-ever meeting between these two squads.
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic on the game against Dynamo:
After a long break and the New Year and Christmas holidays, the second part of the Superleague finally begins. For the second time in 20 days, we are playing against Dynamo. Over the past week, we’ve faced many issues with injuries and illnesses. I’m not exactly sure what lineup we’ll have tomorrow. I’m confident that the first game after the break will be tough for the players, and we won’t see the same level of fitness as before New Year’s. Of course, I hope for the best and invite fans to come and support the team. They certainly deserve it with their performance and position in the standings.
The match will take place on January 11 at the Zenit Basketball Academy court (Severnaya Road, 12). Tip-off is at 18:00 St. Petersburg time. Admission is free for all fans. The game will also be broadcast on the website of the Russian Basketball Federation.
