"After a tough trip, it was expected that we would play without energy": Popovic and Evstafiev on the victory over Dynamo
December 22, 2024
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic summed up the team's trip to Grozny and talked about the difficulties the team faced in the match against Dynamo (75:85):
This is our third away game. Everyone away games were very difficult. First through Rostov, then Krasnodar, then St. Petersburg, and now here. We were without energy today, which, I can say, was expected. But still, the guys did well, especially in the second half. They played how the first 20 minutes should have been played. We won today, and I think it was deserved. We played against an experienced team. Today, we missed our point guard Elkhan Akhmedov, so we had some issues. And one player practically played with a fever. As I said, it was expected to be a tough, hard game. But in the end, we won, and that’s the most important thing.
Blue-whites forward Egor Evstafiev also shared his thoughts after the victory:
The game was tough. It came after a hard trip to Krasnodar and then to Grozny. We were very tired from the travel, and overall, it had a significant impact on us. But a win is a win.
